the "too emotional" myth

tw: femicide, personal trauma, misogyny

being a woman sometimes is like you're walking through a minefield where you have to bypass the mines carefully to avoid triggering an outburst.. I mean I honestly don't get the stereotypes. like the notorious label and myth that women are "too emotional" for crying is overused and outdated bcs they're ignoring the reality that the "less" emotional and so called cool, calm, logical ones are the ones causing so many ruins. expressing feelings is completely a normal thing. unlike those with fragile masculinity who cannot handle a rejection. the irony is wild. like who's the irrational one here? but anyway...

how many women have already fallen to their outbursts? well, you know what I mean by that. this is what has been going on for decades. the past few years have been really crazy here with a high number of tragic femicides following rejection. just recently a 16 year old who went to school for a tuition class was brutally targeted while no one was around (source: here) after allegedly rejecting her classmate's advances and the worst thing happened

this makes me sick to my stomach at how much these femicide headlines just prove the terrifying reality that even for saying "no" is not enough to keep us safe. personally the recent case triggered my trauma and it makes me so sooo mad just how inhumane a person could be to do a horrific thing to another person

instead of telling women how to tread through the minefield, society should teach their son not to plant the mines, bcs this happens when boys are never told no, and they become entitled to take whatever they want

the world was supposed to be a safe place. no one deserves to be treated beyond what they're willing to give. if someone says no, then you know they have set a fine line. and overstepping that line is why we're in this terrifying reality rn

  1. i completely agree with this. it’s so heartbreaking that we’re constantly being told to be careful, even when it comes to rejecting a man. like, shouldn’t a simple “no” be enough? it’s terrifying how some people can see women as objects they’re entitled to, rather than human beings deserving of respect. cases like this keep happening, and it’s honestly so worrying :(

    1. yess! I mean you have everyyyy right to feel hurt, mad or rejected but that doesn't entitle you to punish someone for it. it just shows how fragile their ego is and how much their pride is bruised

  2. thank you for this post. what's happening is truly disheartening and scary. it is horrifying how no matter how horrible a man can be some people still find ways to blame women.

    1. Ikr? it's infuriating how they will criticise and victim blame us, which is why a lot of women who are exposed to these outbursts keep silent :(

  3. I agree so much :( Lately, I've been scared, as black girl, to even talk to boys. I fear that if I say no, they will hurt me, but at the same time I want to experience love. It's hard:( Thank you for this <3
