i. jennette mccurdy
yuppp, the one and only. my first read was her debut memoir, and it's fascinating how much she constructs her prose and her ability to recall every raw detail of her childhood is I.N.S.A.N.E I can't even remember what people said to me last week, let alone my childhood omg. I haven't even read her second book yet, but this one really spikes my interest. the title sounds sooo messy lol
ii. kandi steiner
omghg, she's literally my fave everrr!! I cannot get enough of her. she's the queen of angst. Idk how she does it. a bit dramatic but seriously tho, her descriptive writing is so vivid that my brain plays everything like a movie. I can even feel the atmosphere and also the visual of colour grading. both of these books are my faves. meet your match is way more relaxing than close quarters imo since it contains a pretty heavy element in it
iii. the brontë sisters
I haven't read any of emily's works yet, but anyway! both of her sisters' writing is beautiful and quite identical when it comes to the vibes. I really adore their books bcs of how effortless and natural their characters feel. and the settings give off victorian gothic 100% (obviously duh) tbh I can't differentiate their writing styles. if I like it, I'll like it regardless of which sister wrote it. it's tragic their bloodline ended so early bcs I'd love to see a modern day brontë carrying on their literary legacy
iv. b. celeste
I used to really love her writing as a teenager, and she writes great angst. still... I'm not sure if she still writes the same trope as I've stopped following her that much. she's a wonderful indie author and deserves more recognition than she gets imo even tho she might write controversial/taboo tropes... and themes. these four books are hands down. the best of the best I've ever read by her
v. christina lauren
I must say I really love their non dark romance books more than I'd admit. oh anyway, in case you didn't know, there are two people writing under this combined pen name of longtime bffs. the beautiful bastard series was goooOoOd tho honestly I think dyhy was so much more fun bcs I was completely and utterly obsessed with every single banter between the mcs. it's like the hating game, BUT better. absolute purrrrfection

uhmmm I think that's just it? I have some new fave authors... not sure if I can say much yet bcs I've only read one book by each of them... but nevermind
i. mia sosa
I was never a huge fan of romcoms, but this book completely changed my mind. I fell in love instantly and immediately added another book by her into my tbr list! everything about her writing is wonderful. not once was I bored reading it bcs their chemistry is a top notch and completely unmatched. I really wish this was a series instead of a standalone
ii. liz tomforde
honestly I do really enjoy her writing, sometimes it drags on for too long that I had to give myself a break from her books right after mile high. still! it's not that bad, she just reminds me of a local writer here. but I'm having some doubts about the second book since it has same setup where I'm just so over the messy bff drama who just gets out of a breakup, I mean I love the trope but it's getting too predictable (has anyone read the right move? pls pls plsss convince me to read it!!)
iii. rina kent
well she's not a new discovery since I've been reading her for quite some time, howeverrrrr I thought I'd add her to the list anyway. her books are easy reads and perfect for speeding up my reading goals (hehehh I know it's kind of a reading cheat code for me, but a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do) nothing much to say, but these books are my faves by her after the royal elite series!!
iv. ava wilder
SHE IS SOOOO UNDERRATED! I went into this book not expecting much, but well oh well... it was pure perfection. so sooo perfect that it deserves a screen adaptation. like hello hollywood?!?! I highlighted nearly every page!! my memory of her writing is so blank rn, but for what's it worth I'm still a huge fan!! highly recommend checking her out <33 !!
seeing how much I've binged romance over the last few years, I really do need to pick up more genres to balance it out. I honestly don't mind reading anything, but romance has always been my comfort genre, sometimes I get sick of it so I go back and forth and eventually end up coming back to it. I'd love new recs if you got a few!!
